Job Description

Overview

Abnormal Security is seeking an experienced backend software engineer to join their Product Features team. This role focuses on building and enhancing critical multi-product platforms, specifically the Integrations Platform, which ensures customer trust by connecting the cybersecurity platform to essential enterprise tools, and the Configuration Platform, designed to significantly improve developer velocity for over 100 engineers. The successful candidate will contribute to scaling distributed systems, boosting team productivity, influencing product strategy, and driving business growth by enabling new customer wins and product launches.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate closely with Tech Leads, Engineering Managers, and Product Managers to develop and deliver key product features.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior members of the engineering team.
Take full ownership of the reliability of developed features, including comprehensive unit and integration testing.
Participate actively in on-call rotations to provide technical support and troubleshoot customer issues effectively.
Maintain strong, proactive communication with the team in an asynchronous manner, providing updates, discussing challenges, and proposing solutions independently.
Contribute to elevating engineering standards, participating in knowledge sharing, and engaging in professional development activities.

Required Skills

Minimum of 4 years of experience in backend engineering, with a strong background in designing, building, and operating distributed production applications using Python and Golang.
Demonstrated ownership of platform components, involving end-to-end system design and delivery, while effectively balancing feature development with operational responsibilities at scale.
Expertise in developing low-latency, high-throughput systems leveraging SQL/NoSQL databases, coupled with robust operational excellence in areas like monitoring, fault tolerance, and incident response.
Possesses architectural thinking skills, including the ability to write detailed technical design documents, make pragmatic trade-offs, and influence cross-team technical direction with a long-term view of system scalability.
